The Wood Recyclers Association (WRA) has elected Richard Coulson as its new deputy chair.
Richard has been on the WRA Board for the past five years and is a member of its technical sub-committee which has been leading on the key industry issues of fire prevention plans and waste wood classification over the past 18 months. He takes over the position of deputy chair from Clem Spencer.
Richard has more than 20 years of procurement experience, 17 of those in the wood sector. He worked for Kronospan for 11 years before moving to become Biomass Procurement Manager at RWE Supply & Trading. He is a member of The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply.
During his time in the panel board and biomass markets, Richard has acquired a detailed knowledge of the waste wood, sawmill and forestry industries.
He said: “I’m really pleased to have been chosen by the WRA Board to be the association’s Deputy Chair.
“There is a lot going on in the sector at the moment, much of which has the potential for big impacts on both the wood recycling and biomass industries, so I’m looking forward to being able to represent the WRA on these issues as its deputy chair.”
Richard will work alongside the WRA’s chair Andy Hill and executive director Julia Turner in supporting the rest of the Board which includes, industry specialists Geoff Hadfield, Clem Spencer, Mark Hayton and Paul Caldwell.
He takes over the role of deputy chair from wood recycler Clem Spencer who has decided to step down as deputy but remain on the board of directors. Clem has been a member of the WRA for 17 years and has served as deputy chair for nine of those and chair for four.
During his time as chair, Clem appointed the board of directors to represent experience within the industry.
The WRA will be electing a seventh member to its board at its AGM on March 14th. This position is to replace David Laing who stood down last year so he could spend more time with his family.
