The Wood Recyclers’ Association (WRA) has appointed Spencer Caldwell, the National Sales Manager at Recycling Plant & Machinery (RPM Ltd), as the new service member representative on its Board.

The appointment was finalised at the WRA’s AGM which took place in Leeds yesterday (March 6).

During the meeting, wood recycler Jamie Plevin, the managing director of R Plevin & Sons Ltd, was also re-appointed to the board – a position he has held since 2018.

At RPM, Spencer specialises in the sale and marketing of new and used recycling equipment and also helps to represent Swedish technology manufacturer IQR Solutions AB in the UK.

In his role, he has been instrumental in developing RPM’s broad network of suppliers and customers and developed a firm on-the-ground understanding of how to manage resources including waste wood.

Spencer said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed to the Board of the WRA. I have been attending WRA meetings for several years and have seen the association go from strength to strength.

“I look forward to being able to contribute more and to represent the interests of service members – who are an important and growing part of the WRA membership – and help the association continue its exemplary work.”

Richard Coulson, chair of the WRA, commented: “We’re really pleased to welcome Spencer to the Board. He will provide valuable insight from a service members’ perspective alongside knowledge of recycling processes and technology and a broad network of contacts. He is a great example of the young talent coming through in our industry.”

Spencer replaces former WRA Board member, Paul Caldwell, who stepped down earlier this year due to other commitments after 11 years in the role.
