We’re just a month away from our Spring Members’ Meeting and AGM which is taking place on Wednesday 9th March in Telford.

We’ve got another busy agenda aimed at informing and educating our members on issues relevant to the industry and their businesses. This time we will be welcoming Howard Leberman from the Environment Agency to update us on the latest regulatory issues affecting the waste wood industry, as well as Jack Rickard of Bioenergy Infrastructure Group who will be talking about the importance of waste wood in biomass policy. We will also have a presentation from Charlotte Page of TALICK on the potential benefits of using HVO as an alternative to diesel.

The Spring meeting also includes our AGM and this year there are three Board places up for election. Alan Webb who represents wood recyclers on the Board and Paul Caldwell who represent’s the WRA’s service members will both be standing for re-election. Geoff Hadfield, who is a founder member of the WRA, has decided to stand down this year after 21 years of being elected to  the Board.

The WRA Board is made up of a mix of members to ensure all parts of the industry are proportionately represented. As Geoff Hadfield and Alan Webb represent our recycling members and Paul Caldwell represents our service sector, only recycling and service members can put themselves forward as potential candidates at this AGM. Anyone interested in being a future board member should contact Julia Turner as soon as possible and before Friday 18th February 2022.

The Spring meeting is being held at the Holiday Inn Telford – Ironbridge, Saint Quentin Gate, TF3 4EH.To attend your company must be a member of the WRA and you must register via this link.  If you would like to book overnight accommodation for the night before you can do so by contacting the hotel directly on 01952 527000.
