Scottish wood recycler David Laing has been awarded a Lifetime Presidency in recognition of the contribution he has made to the Wood Recyclers’ Association.
The award was made last week at the WRA’s summer members’ meeting in Stirling Scotland. David was presented with a decanter engraved with the words: “Lifetime Presidency awarded to David J Laing in recognition of the contribution he made to the Wood Recyclers’ Association”. He was also given three bottles of Malbec wine in a presentation box.
Following the presentation, David said:”I am totally surprised by this. I had no idea at all but I feel very honoured. I have throughly enjoyed my time on the WRA Board and hope I have helped to develop the UK’s waste wood industry through my input over the years. I wish the WRA all the best for the future. There are some challenging issues on the agenda at the moment and I will continue to support the WRA through my company, which will remain a member.”
Andy Hill, Chair of the WRA, said: “David’s contribution has been remarkable. he is a very popular member of the WRA and particularly among Board members. We will miss him very much.”
David formerly stepped down from his role on the Board of the WRA last autumn to spend more time with his family. His position on the Board was filled at the WRA’s AGM in March by wood recycler Jamie Plevin.
