With Digital Waste Tracking becoming mandatory for permitted waste receiving sites in England and Wales from October 1, Defra will be hosting a free webinar for WRA members on Monday 13 October at 10:00am to provide an update on the system and what it means for waste operators.
The session will be particularly relevant for WRA members operating permitted waste wood reception and processing facilities, offering an opportunity to hear directly from Defra, gain a better understanding of the requirements, and ask questions about Digital Waste Tracking implementation.
Digital Waste Tracking is replacing paper-based waste record-keeping with a new digital system. From 1 October 2026, all permitted and licensed waste receiving sites in England and Wales must use the new Report Receipt of Waste service to record waste they receive, while Scotland and Northern Ireland’s mandatory date is 1 January 2027.
Digital Waste Tracking is designed to modernise the way waste movements are recorded, improving transparency, consistency and compliance across the sector.
