Enva has doubled the wood recycling capacity at its Manchester facility in one year after investing in a Pronar 2.1010 shredder, supplied by Global Machinery Solutions.
The recycling and resource recovery company had identified a need to upgrade the shredders at its Droylsden wood recycling facility to increase its processing capability and meet the growing demand for sustainable animal bedding and biomass, according to the company. The facility, spanning 18 acres, processes up to 500 tonnes of wood waste daily, including grade A (high-quality clean wood) and grade C (lower-quality wood material).
The primary challenge was to find a wood recycling shredder capable of handling a higher throughput rate and efficiently shredding both grade A and grade C wood. Enva needed a wood recycling shredder that would not only increase production but also maintain the quality of the woodchips produced.
After evaluating several options, Enva’s site manager, Neil Ogden, was impressed by the specifications of the Pronar 2.1010 recycling shredder. Following a visit to Pronar’s manufacturing facility in Poland and a demonstration of the machine, Enva decided to invest in the Pronar 2.1010. This machine was chosen for its advanced technology, noise reduction, and superior throughput capabilities.
The Pronar 2.1010 was installed, and Global Machinery Solutions provided onsite training to ensure the Enva team could operate the wood recycling shredder safely and effectively. Initially, it took time to adjust the settings for optimal performance, but with support from Global Machinery Solutions, the team quickly adapted.
Since the installation of the Pronar 2.1010, Enva says it has seen remarkable improvements including:
- Hourly processing capacity of grade A wood has increased from 30-35 tonnes to over 50 tonnes.
- The machine operates continuously with minimal downtime, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.
- Employees are now able to focus on other areas of the site, eliminating the need for additional hires.
Enva Site Manager, Neil Ogden said: “Wood recycling is highly sustainable and delivers significant environmental and commercial benefits. I am incredibly impressed with the Pronar who have played a key role in doubling our wood processing capacity, increasing employee productivity, and reducing costs. The after-sales support from Global Machinery Solutions has been wonderful, and I am keen to continue working with the team as we continue to grow our business.”
Jason Purllant of Global Machinery Solutions said: “I am thrilled we were able to provide Enva with the perfect wood recycling shredder to meet their specific needs. With so many wood recycling shredders for sale, it was crucial to ensure the Pronar 2.1010 not only matched their operational requirements but also represented a sound long-term investment.
“The advanced technology and efficiency of the Pronar will undoubtedly support Enva’s growth and sustainability goals for years to come.”
